Melbourne School Holidays
The first Monday of 2019 and back to kinder/school time is fasting approaching! My husband went back to work today, which has left me busy planning out the days to keep the girls entertained! So just what are we planning on getting up to? I thought I would share all our top ideas for keeping the kids entertained these Melbourne School Holidays. From the free activities to the costly I find it is all about planning the activities out.
We here in Melbourne are pretty spoilt with activities to entertain the kids these school holidays! Dont wish the summer holidays away, get out and have fun! So much to do and so much to see I would love to know some of your favourite places too!

Melbourne School Holiday Activities
The Zoo’s-
One of our favourite activities all year round is visiting the Zoo. The Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary are our go to (we have only been to Werribee once!). Kids under 16 are free all Victorian School holidays and public holidays. Plenty of water play, keeper talks, Wiggles Frog Disco and shows to keep the kids entertained. We always pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it.
By the way if you are not a Zoo member I think it is definitely worth it especially for the younger kids. I have actually lost count the amount of times we have been!
Melbourne Aquarium-
The Aquarium is having a Smallfoot Adventure these Melbourne School Holidays. Set off on an icey adventure into Yeti world. Meet and greet Yetis Migo and Meechee. Crawl through an igloo, dive into a snow pit and take part in an ice cube throwing game! There perfect place to cool off this summer. We cant wait to pop in and check it out!
Admission to the Smallfoot Adventure is included in general ticketing prices.
NGV Kids Summer Festival-
NGV Kids Summer Festival is now on from January 5th – January 13th. Free entry with plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained. Check out the full program here to see what is on.
Pixar Putt-
Up for a little game of putt putt amongst some of Disney-Pixar’s iconic films? Finding Nemo and Bugs Life to name a couple you will spot around the course. Choose a 9 hole game or an 18 hole game! Perfect for the school aged kids and the adults young at heart. Find all the details here
Melbourne Museum-
Always a fun place to hang out and escape the heat or summer rain! Dinosaurs, bugs, story time, play space and more, plenty to keep everyone entertained. We popped along just over a week ago to check out the Making Window Magic exhibition. Anyone who is a fan of the Myer Christmas Windows it is definitely one exhibition to check out.
Kids High Tea-
DreamWorks Trolls High Tea is on at the Langham. The Langham certainly know how to put on a super cute themed high tea. We have previously attended Barbie High Tea a couple of times and Aria has absolutely loved it both times! Whilst it is not the cheapest activity it certainly is cute, fun and sugar filled day! I highly recommend getting yourself and your kiddies along to one of theses events at least once a year.

Jam & Cream-
The iconic pink caravan and homemade mouth-watering treats just like your Nana makes! We love visiting here! I recommended grabbing seat outside. More specifically the table by the wall with all the various teacups hanging. My girls are always happily entertained with little play pots, pans, etc and climbing int the pink caravan if it is vacant. For the kids Aria would highly recommend ordering a warm hot chocolate and pinwheel sandwiches. Teacup biscuits and cupcakes are also a huge hit. Coffee is delish and the best scones going around!
